Anyone that’s ever been in my office will know that I have all sorts of notes and idea guides stuck to my walls. Most of them are on copywriting and one in particularly details the 30 most successful ways to start a sales letter.

And sitting at number 4 on this particular list is flattery. In fact the actual idea suggests that when gross flattery is written well, it rarely fails.

So I found this article on the BBC to be a great testament to the persuasive powers of flattery.
